Alcoa is a global leader in lightweight metals
technology, engineering and manufacturing.
The install of the 3rd largest forging press in
the world has recently been completed successfully with the assistance of QSC
Safety at their Sheffield site.
Alcoa needed a full turnkey project, including the
construction of a new building and the erection of the press. The project
started in July and has recently finished.
Andy Blanda, Senior Project Manager at Alcoa said
"You were without question an integral part of our team, so I’ll take this
opportunity to recognize with appreciation your assistance in the execution of
Project Goliath. Speaking on behalf of the project team, I would not hesitate
to have you back should the occasion warrant, and would most certainly
recommend QSC Ltd to any future client."
Throughout the past 10 months, over 350 people have been
onsite 24 hours a day, accumulating over 70,000 working hours, whilst working
with a massive 1,400 tonnes of steel - and we're pleased to say that during
this time there were no major accidents!
Shane Moore, Managing Director said "I'd like to thank
Adrian Owens, Health and Safety Advisor at QSC, for his work throughout this
project. The safety aspect of this work requires a
very different mindset to day-to-day operational safety in manufacturing. My
team relish the challenge of the ever-changing sites that we visit, and we look
forward to a long lasting relationship with Alcoa."
